On June 29, 2024, the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort was the setting for a memorable event in honor of Seychelles National Day. Organized by the Honorary Consulate of Seychelles in Monaco , this day of celebration brought together influential personalities, including HSH Prince Albert II, and celebrated culture, environmental commitment, and solidarity. Upon arrival, guests were greeted by a majestic 2-meter glittering octopus by Eddy Maniez, a work that already heralded the artistic splendor of the day. At the heart of this event, the artist Eddy Maniez also presented an exceptional work: a blue turtle, which left a lasting impression both for its beauty and its message.
A day rich in discoveries and awareness
The afternoon was devoted to a series of fun and educational workshops intended to introduce people to the natural and cultural riches of the Seychelles. These activities allowed participants, from children to adults, to immerse themselves in the Seychellois world. Exhibitions , culinary tastings, and creative workshops provided a space for exploration and awareness, highlighting the environmental challenges facing the archipelago.
The turtle by Eddy Maniez
Eddy Maniez, known for his works inspired by the animal kingdom, presented a turtle sculpture that embodies perseverance , longevity and peace . Made of resin and adorned with 12,000 Swarovski crystals, this magnificent work shone with its brilliance and deep meaning at the event. The turtle, a strong symbol in many cultures around the world, found particular resonance during this celebration, in perfect harmony with the themes of conservation and respect for the ocean highlighted.
An exceptional charity evening
The day ended with a remarkable charity evening , where the generosity of the participants was honored. During the dinner, an auction raised funds to support environmental and educational projects, such as “ Eco School – Trip of a Lifetime ” , “ Oceano for all ”, and “ Re.Generation Future Leaders Program ”, supported by the Seychelles Islands Foundation (SIF), the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
Eddy Maniez's turtle was one of the star lots of this sale, helping to raise an impressive total amount of EUR 91,952.
The event also served to celebrate the cultural and historical links between Monaco and the Seychelles , but also to highlight the importance of art as a means of raising awareness and celebrating culture. Eddy Maniez, through his sculptures, has once again proven his unique talent in capturing the essence of nature in one-of-a-kind contemporary works of art.
