On June 29, 2024, the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort hosted a memorable event in honor of Seychelles National Day. Organized by the Honorary Consulate of Seychelles in Monaco, this day of celebration brought together influential figures, including HSH Prince Albert II, and celebrated culture, environmental commitment, and solidarity. Upon arrival, guests were greeted by a majestic, shimmering 2-meter octopus sculpture by Eddy Maniez, a work that foreshadowed the artistic splendor of the day. At the heart of the event, artist Eddy Maniez also presented an exceptional piece: a blue turtle, which captivated the audience with both its beauty and its powerful message.
A day rich in discoveries and awareness
The afternoon was dedicated to a series of fun and educational workshops designed to showcase the natural and cultural treasures of the Seychelles. These activities allowed participants, from children to adults, to immerse themselves in Seychellois culture. Exhibitions , and culinary tastings, creative workshops provided a space for exploration and awareness, highlighting the environmental challenges facing the archipelago.
The turtle by Eddy Maniez
Eddy Maniez, known for his works inspired by the animal kingdom, presented a turtle sculpture embodying perseverance, longevity, and peace. Made of resin and adorned with 12,000 Swarovski crystals, this magnificent piece shone with brilliance and profound meaning at the event. The turtle, a powerful symbol in many cultures around the world, resonated particularly strongly during this celebration, perfectly aligning with the themes of conservation and respect for the ocean .
An exceptional charity evening
The day concluded with a remarkable charity evening, where the generosity of the participants was celebrated. During dinner, an auction raised funds to support environmental and educational projects, such as " Eco School – Trip of a Lifetime ", Oceano for All ," and the " Re.Generation Future Leaders Program ," supported by the Seychelles Islands Foundation (SIF), the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
Eddy Maniez's turtle was one of the highlights of the auction, contributing to an impressive total of €91,952.
The event also celebrated the cultural and historical ties between Monaco and the Seychelles, and highlighted the importance of art as a means of raising awareness and celebrating culture. Eddy Maniez, through his sculptures, once again demonstrated his unique talent for capturing the essence of nature in one-of-a-kind contemporary artworks.
